Youth Group Friendships Friends are important for people to get through life. They can help with personal problems and are good company. Friends make people feel calmer, more relaxed, and can help take the focus off of stressful tasks. A nice place to find good friends is a youth group. I started attending a youth group of an upscale church in southeast Michigan on a regular basis after finishing my freshman year of high school. I had been going to that church on Sunday mornings since Kindergarten. I wanted to get closer to my friends and God. After my sophomore year, I stopped attending because of my demanding schoolwork. Last summer, I returned and attended on an almost weekly basis, however, when I started college it was a†¦show more content†¦The ramps are separated from the audience by short brick walls. The stage has a beautiful, red curtain. At youth group meetings, there are many different musical instruments on stage ranging from guitar to violin to drums. There are also several microphones as well as a screen used to display lyrics from the sound booth. There are emergency exit doors on both sides of the stage. The sound booth is located in the back of the auditorium, between the two entrance doors. It contains some electronic equipment and a computer that has the lyrics typed up in PowerPoint presentations. The wall behind the sound booth is carpeted. The rest of the back wall is brick. The ceiling is black and quite high above the floor. Most people arrive between 7:15 and 7:30 PM on Wednesdays. We open up with praise and worship shortly after 7:30. There is a band that consists of a worship leader, three or four backup singers, some guitars, a keyboard, percussion, and a violin. The leader and singers rotate every week. The song lyrics are typed in a PowerPoint presentation and displayed onto the screen on the stage. Next, there are prayer requests, praise reports, and the offering. All members of the group are given the chance to say what they desire. Different group members collect the offering each week. Next, the group socializes for about five to ten minutes.
